Hello, I'm Kim Truong

Sales Engineer

About Me

Currently, a Sales Engineer at Phriendly Phishing on the Customer Solutions Team, driving sales growth and enablement through providing technical demos, managing trials and proof of concepts in addition to building enablement collateral to bolster the Sales team's knowledge, confidence, and ability to sell.

Hello! It's nice to make your acquaintance and I hope we get the chance to meet in person. Right now, I have been diving deeper into my professional career, exploring all types of roles across tech and cybersecurity. I originally come from a UX degree, that has given me a unique perspective on the implementation of various projects and ongoing engagements across SaaS Security Awareness Training, SAP HRIS consulting, and even VR Research at CSIRO. From my degree, I've worked on projects and collaborations with organisations such as KPMG, Harris Farms, Grains & Legumes Nutrition Council, StrongLED, and IBM - doing anything from UX Design work to creative developing to business proposals.

My current experience in "startup" tech has truly evolved my perspective on how a business works - from the importance of established processes to the necessity to be flexible for a product in flux, the relationships you build with prospects and customers become practice for the rapport building between other department leads. My interests in a role have grown towards the fundamental of a team with unified expectations and empathy for the holistic customer experience. Whether it be building an HRIS or implementing SAT, my passion is to provide customers with an impactful and meaningful experience from both the product/service and the interactions with Sales, Customer Success, and Support.

Skills

I thrive in finding creative solutions and learning new tools to do so.

Network Fundamentals

With my current role doing Sales Engineering in a cyber security SaaS product, I've built a strong foundation around mail servers, IDP integration, and the security considerations that come along with onboarding a new vendor. From Azure to Google Workspace to SEG and SIEM integrations and workflows, I have spent the last few years understanding how all these products work together to make up an organisation's infrastructure.

Adobe Creative Suite

For every project and role since 2018, the tools in Adobe's Creative Suite have become my best friend! Photoshop and Illustrator have been my right hand men for asset creation while After Effects has taken me through every film and I've had to make. Whether it be for posters, websites, promo videos, or game assets, I'm comfortable and confident in my designs.

Web Design

From UI Theory to Interactivity to Accessibility, I love the thought and theory that goes into Web Coding. Nowadays, with how easily accessible creating websites is, comes the importance for those websites to be able to be used by everyone. While I mostly use web coding for silly projects for my friends now (https://howlonghasitbeensincemayahaslostsmth.github.io), I hope I'll be able to design for all types of users in the future.

Unity Game Engine

Through my experience at CSIRO's Data61, I've delved into the applications of VR and gamification using Unity 3D Game Engine as a super versatile tool. Ever since, I've been constantly prototyping mini-games for my friends and as a personal hobby and use it as a tool for fast-prototyping at work whenever I get the opportunity.

Figma

As a UX major, being adept in Figma as a prototyping tool is essential. I have used Figma day in and day out of my UX Career to mock up various apps and programs for diverse interfaces - from mobile screens to smart mirrors.

Arduino

My favourite way to fast prototype is with physical computing, and with it, comes a plethora of transferable skills: programming, CAD, quick iteration and development, and handiwork. The various projects I've used Arduino for, demonstrates the flexibility of my skillset from end-to-end development.
